Perinatal Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care during pregnancy is vital to both mom and baby. In our office you will find that moms who get adjusted during their pregnancy have both easier births and decreased labor times. Dr. Sabrina Sanchez is certified and proficient in the Webster Technique, which is a technique specifically designed for pregnant moms. The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. This adjustment allows for moms to be relaxed while face down in pregnancy pillows. Our mom's love this because it takes the pressure of gravity off their spine.
Women with their first pregnancy have enjoyed 25% shorter labor times with Chiropractic care whereas multi-parous women (those who have had at least one pregnancy) who seek chiropractic care have had on average 31% shorter labor times. 1,2
There are many reasons why a mommy might seek chiropractic care during pregnancy:
- Wanting a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian birth)
- Shorter delivery times
- Eases discomfort & pains
- Breech Baby Positioning
- Increases Mobility
- Aligns body in preparation for lifting/carrying/nursing baby
- Increases rate of recovery after delivery
- Pains (neck pain, upper back pain, and lower back pain)
- Wanting Wellness Care
- Better biomechanical functioning
According to the CDC, rates of vaginal birth after previous cesarean delivery (VBAC) was 13.3% in 2018.3 Our goal is to help you be prepared for a VBAC as best as possible. We will give you the tools to help you learn how to strengthen your spine and develop your midsection. Our focus is to help you get one step closer to your goals.
Dr. Sabrina has extensive knowledge of the woman's body. There are so many influences of baby positioning and delivery based on pelvic types, asymmetrical musculature, misalignments of the spine (pelvis/low back), chronic poor repetitive postures, and much more. Using all of this knowledge Dr. Sabrina will recommend different stretches and tips as you move along at each stage of your pregnancy. Rest assured that Dr. Sabrina also has a stellar team of doulas, midwives, lactation consultants, and nurses to refer you to if you need something specific outside of the chiropractic realm.
